Frequently asked questions about the projector screen size calculator
The most important answers at a glance — more detailed explanations can be found in our guide
Where can I find the throw ratio of my projector?
You can find the throw ratio in your projector’s datasheet or on the manufacturer’s website. It describes the ratio between projection distance and image width. Entering it in the calculator makes the recommendation more precise — especially for short throw projectors
Which aspect ratio should I choose?
For home cinema and most modern projectors, 16:9 is the right choice. 16:10 is often used in offices and with older business projectors. If you are unsure, check your projector’s manual — the native aspect ratio is listed there
Will the recommended projector screen fit my room if the ceiling is low?
Yes — that’s why the calculator asks for room height. The lower the ceiling, the more limited the maximum image height. The result automatically considers that the projector screen can be installed with sufficient distance from the ceiling
What is the difference between roll-up, motorized, and frame projector screens — and which one is right for me?
Manual projector screens are operated manually and are suitable for occasional use. Motorized projector screens extend at the push of a button or via home automation and are ideal for fixed installations. Frame projector screens are permanently tensioned and deliver the best image but are mounted permanently. Which option suits your room best is explained in detail in our projector screen guide
