The optical celexon Toslink audio cable transmits digital stereo and multi-channel audio signals in the best quality and is therefore ideal for connecting input and output devices with the connection usually labeled “Toslink”.
Using the SPDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) interface, the audio signals are transmitted uncompressed and lossless .

The big difference to the digital cinch cables, which also transmit audio signals via the SPDIF interface, is that this is a fiber optic cable that transmits the signals via light pulses. This technology has the advantage that the galvanic isolation means that no different ground potentials arise and therefore no ground loops occur.

Originally developed by Toshiba in the 1980s, this process has now become established across all manufacturers.
